In four years as a staff writer at The Eagle, American University’s student newspaper, Zach bylined and contributed reporting more while also serving as editor-in-chief and student life editor. Two of those stories won regional awards for feature writing and another for breaking news reporting from the Society of Professional Journalists, and The Eagle was recognized as the Best Non-Daily Student Newspaper at a middle-sized school in the nation during the year he served as editor-in-chief.
Zach joined the paper’s advisory board—which consists of alumni and current staff—in 2015, and became its chairman in March 2016.
